This is a set of 2 oval serving platters, made by Edgewood China. The pattern (whose exact name and date is unknown, but appears to have been discontinued sometime in the 1940s) features 22 karat gold encrusted trim, blue banding, and a transfer medallion in the center of each piece. These medallions are varied, and feature different scenes of women and men in neoclassical/Venetian style dress.
The larger platter measures approximately 16" long and 12" wide. The center medallion scene depicts 3 women, and a cherub/angel.
The smaller platter measures approximately 14" long and 10.25" wide. The center medallion scene depicts 3 women standing around a fourth woman, who is seated.
These platters are in good pre-owned condition. There are no chips or cracks. They do show signs of use and wear, including some utensil marks, and wear to the gold trim. Please see photos for more detail.
